NOS TAL GIA

This became a two semester project. The first semester was spent in pre-production and production. The second semester was spent on sound work.

Upon the end of the 'Film as Capture' class, the final project was to work on anything you desire. I started with the idea of trying to capture or replicate moments of nostalgia upon film. Playing with size of miniatures and precisely set up scenes within movement, color, frame placement, scene relationships, and editing strategies. With experimentation and plenty of pre-thinking/pre-production, I was able to build upon these theories of what can be perceived through film with puppets in real-time.
Shot on 16mm kodachrome color reversal. Edited in Final Cut Pro and special effects in After Effects. Sounds for my version came from 'data bending'. This is where any file is imported as if it were a sound file. This created very strange and distorted sound imagery for me to work with.

Upon finishing and finalizing NOS TAL GIA, I was ready to set it loose upon various sound artists. I wished for other sound artists to work on this because I wanted to see how different the subject can become with different sound. This became a separate experiment of different interest.
The film was created in: Film as Capture and Film 2
The sound was created in: Intro to Sound
